Whiting Law Group was proud to announce the addition of Brian J. Spencer as an associate in August 2009. In his first year, Brian settled more than 20 cases for over $750,000.00. In doing so, he helped people facing some of the toughest circumstances of their lives: mounting medical bills measured in the tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars, an inability to work, and lives altered by constant pain.

In August 2010, Brian obtained a victory at trial in a case where the defense retained a medical expert to testify that the Plaintiff imagined her three years of pain and suffering. Brian has stood up to numerous similar insurance company bluffs and prevailed.

By virtue of being bilingual, Brian has established a niche helping a particularly vulnerable portion of the population: monolingual Spanish speakers. In 2003, Brian spent six months living with a Spanish family in the north of Spain earning his minor in Spanish. With the help of our Bilingual staff and Brian, Whiting Law Group will better be able to serve our expanding Hispanic clientele and community.

Prior to joining the firm, Brian spent three and a half years at Cooney & Conway, a prominent civil litigation firm specializing in asbestos litigation. Brian brings experience working alongside a former President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on several complex cases including a $20MM+ toxic tort workplace exposure case against a Fortune 100 Company. He also gained experience with motor vehicle accidents, dram shop liability, railroad injuries, premises liability, construction injuries, lead paint exposure, sexual assault, toxic torts and medical malpractice actions.

In May 2008, Brian graduated cum laude from DePaul University College of Law after finishing in the Top 20% of his class. Additionally, he received two prestigious CALI awards given to the best student in each class: one for litigation strategies and another for advanced trial advocacy from Judge Susan Cox. Brian completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a major in international studies and minors in Spanish and History.
