Tim Whiting named as Volunteer of the Month by Catholic Charities
The following paragraphs were posted on the Catholic Charities website in May 2009, when Tim Whiting was named as Volunteer of the Month.
Timothy M. Whiting joined CCLA as a volunteer attorney in September 2007. From the start, Mr. Whiting has been a very committed and enthusiastic volunteer, assisting CCLA in many different aspects of its operation. He regularly comes to our monthly Help Desk which CCLA operates at Catholic Charities’ Tuesday Night Supper for the Hungry, addressing the various legal issues of those in attendance. Mr. Whiting also has answered hotline calls, is an active member of our Pro Bono Network of attorneys, and is someone our staff attorneys feel comfortable calling to consult on a legal issue.
Mr. Whiting’s commitment to CCLA stems from a desire to share his talents with those less fortunate: “I volunteer for CCLA because it offers help to the most needy whose access to lawyers or justice is severely impaired because of their dire circumstances. CCLA allows me to assist by offering my skills and blessings directly to the needy and I get to see the direct benefits of my help. I also volunteer as I feel it is my responsibility to share the gifts God has blessed me with, particularly being a lawyer, with those less fortunate than me. The experiences at CCLA have taught me extreme humility and appreciation for the circumstances of the poor and how, without help from me or others, they truly do not have a chance to move forward in life.”
In addition to providing assistance to our clients, Mr. Whiting is an active participant on CCLA’s Advisory Committee, assisting with fundraising, policy issues, and development of the program. He is a very accessible volunteer, making it a priority to be available and responsive to CCLA and its clients.
Mr. Whiting is obviously a very high energy individual, having founded his own law firm, the Whiting Law Group, in 2001. Mr. Whiting is a graduate of University of Wisconsin Law School. He currently is a member of Catholic Charities Board of Advisors, its Legal Advisory Committee, and the Patron Board for St. Sylvester Parish School. He also is a frequent lecturer at various bar association seminars throughout the state on civil and tort litigation matters and managing a successful law practice.
On behalf of CCLA and our clients, thank you! We so value your dedication and commitment!
