Giving Back to Our Community
Our Community Support
At Whiting Law Group, we believe communities are stronger when they stand together. We further this belief by supporting Chicagoland community organizations that serve those in need. We support the programs below. These wonderful programs work to feed the hungry, provide clothes for the disadvantages, and increase awareness for those in need.
Casa Catalina Basic Needs Center
Whiting Law Group consistently donates to and is a supporter of Casa Catalina. Founded in 1984 by Sister JoEllen Tomas, Casa Catalina, provides food those who cannot afford it themselves. Through Casa Catalina and other programs, Catholic Charities and its countless volunteers provide meals for over 400 families each week in the most economically challenged neighborhoods in Chicago.
For more information on Casa Catalina, and how you can offer help or for volunteer opportunities, please call (773) 376-9425 and to speak with Sister JoEllen.
Friday Morning Hospitality through St. Clement Parish
Once a month our firm provides the food and drinks for this program. We head over to St. Clement Parish to serve juice, coffee, and donuts to those waiting for the parish’s Friday Sack Lunch Program. The Friday Sack Lunch Program provides sack lunches for the hungry and needy in the neighborhood of the parish, on the North Side of Chicago.
Every December our firm provides outerwear like hats, gloves, scarves, and socks to those in need.
National Kidney Foundation
Whiting Law Group is a member of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI). NKFI improves the health and well being of people at risk for or affected by kidney disease through prevention, education and empowerment. Kidney disease affects a significant number of people every year in America. If left untreated, the disease can lead to kidney failure, forcing those affected to rely on dialysis or a transplant to survive.
NKFI is very personal to the firm’s founder, Tim Whiting. In 2010, he donated a kidney so that his mother who was dying of kidney disease could receive a kidney from another donor.
In 2015, Whiting Law Group organized a team and raised several thousand dollars for NKFI’s walkathon at Chicago’s Soldier Field. The firm was delighted to be a part of a fantastic event that raised over $230,000 for awareness about and treatment of kidney disease.
Catholic Charities & Thursday and Friday Night Suppers
Tim Whiting serves on the board of Catholic Charities and its Legal Advisory Committee. He donates his time and counsel to this pro bono legal organization. His involvement raises over $100,000 a year in contributions to hire free legal aid to those in need of legal assistance they cannot afford. For more information on how you can support the great causes visit www.catholiccharities.net.
Whiting Law Group donates monthly in support of Thursday and Friday Night Suppers distributed by Holy Name Cathedral to those in need. Our donation provides for dinner for on every Thursday and Friday of the month. For more information how you can support and get involved with this program, please visit www.holynamecathedral.org.
