The U.S. legislative process is a strictly regulated procedure for adopting laws, resolutions, and certain other documents at the federal level, which includes a series of sequential stages, beginning with legislative initiative and submission of a draft of a regulation to the houses of Congress for discussion, and ending with the signing of the act by the President, its publication, and its enactment into law.
